The Leash Was Winning
Most tactical gloves use microfiber palms. They work great for general duty use, but K9 handlers are well aware of their unique challenge. Repeated leash work destroys conventional palm materials. Fast.
When we started developing the Patrolux K9 glove, the feedback was simple: handlers were burning through gloves at an alarming rate and had largely accepted it as part of the job.
The solution came from an abrasion-resistant ceramic print technology called K-Cap. This is a technology we borrowed from the motorcycle industry—an industry that knows a thing or two about abrasion resistance.
The first prototypes dramatically improved durability, but field testing with local K9 officers exposed a new issue. The ceramic worked so well it reduced grip during pistol manipulation.
Back to the drawing board.
By incorporating silicone grip elements into the ceramic print, we were able to maintain the leash protection while restoring the firearm handling characteristics officers needed.
Three rounds of development later, Patrolux K9 was born.
No glove is indestructible, but the Patrolux K9 delivers the balance of leash-work durability and firearm handling that K9 officers need.
